I write. And edit. A lot.
I have reported and written articles, managed website content, edited annual reports and more. Currently, I am a communications specialist at the Michigan Department of Education – Low Incidence Outreach (MDE-LIO), which provides resources and services for families and educators of students who are blind or visually impaired or who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Article Writing
In my current position, I write all articles for MDE-LIO's news section.
I previously worked at the Center for Educational Networking, which provides communications support for Michigan's Office of Special Education. In that position, I wrote articles for Statewide Autism Resources and Training (START). The articles were published in START's newsletter and in education publications around the state. Here are some examples:

Web Content
I use Drupal to manage web content for MDE-LIO's website as well as Camp Tuhsmeheta's website. Camp Tuhsmeheta offers educational outdoor opportunities for students and their families.
For mdelio.org, I write homepage calls-to-action, create pages for upcoming events and update or reorganize information as needed. For example, sign language interpreters were confused about changing certification requirements. I made the regulations clearer on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment requirements page.
On camptuhsmeheta.org, I add events and update content to promote the camp's year-round availability.
In 2012, I served as a communications intern at the Presidio Trust in San Francisco. I managed the organization's website and updated blurbs on the home page with news and events.
Social Media
I have experience managing organizations' Facebook and Twitter accounts.
In early 2018, I helped launch MDE-LIO's Facebook page, for which I plan content and create posts. Between 2013 and 2017, I cultivated fan engagement on the Center for Educational Networking's Facebook page. And at the Presidio Trust, I managed the agency's Facebook and Twitter accounts.
